The childrens playpark is huge and there is definitely enough to keep the kids entertained what with the soft play and hands on farm all in the same vicinity. It’s such a huge, beautiful place and the animals are obviously very well cared for. Me and my 7 year old son absolutely love this place! So much so, that we have had a Gold member annual pass for 5 years so far. The biggest attraction for my children is always the butterfly house and crocodiles but everyone has their own favourites!Īs with anything if you want to keep your costs down take your own food. It was good to see the lions which are in loan to ZSL and hopefully Whipsnade will manage to get some of their own to replace the ones they lost in due course. It is a large site and walking shoes are definitely recommended but this means that even when it is busy you have space. This was useful for my children to encourage them round the entire site! The zoo is running Easter extras including a 'egg' hunt which is looking for egg boards with a chance to win a years gold membership. Plus three membership covers London zoo as well. As you need to go 3 or 4 times in the year to break even so to speak. This makes their yearly membership much more attractive. On a side note you have to pay for the car park which was £3 for 10 hours as it's owned by someone else.Īs with everywhere prices are going up and Whipsnade is no exception with an adult ticket now priced around £30.75. When we went it was half price so fantastic value and a lot of work is going on to make a new small monkey enclosure which looks really good.įor everyone who says it's unfair to keep these animals I say they are rescued and now have a chance of a life with great keepers. It has a cafe which sells really nice food and a small shop. This place is not big but you could spend a long time looking at the animals as they are so close and can even watch some of them being fed. It also has information about each animal and there characteristics. Lots of information is dotted about as some animals have injuries from being Miss treated from previous owners. The big cats all look happy and you can get surprisingly close and they don't care you are there, they just go on there daily business. It has some lions, tigers, racoons, lemurs, goats and many more different animals. This is not a zoo it is a sanctuary for animals to have a better life. In short, am glad we went and we had a good morning, but because of the current entrance price and us seeing everything in less than 2 hours it didn't feel good enough value to come back regularly.Īwesome and well looked after with a lot of renovation going on to to make it even better. There was a Costa self-serve station for hot drinks. The only food place open today only serves cold food, and not a broad selection. There are not a lot of food places or toilet stops. It is pricey for the amount if animals/areas to explore compared to the entrance fee. Staff were amazing, really polite, friendly and helpful. Parking is good, wasn't jam packed when we left at midday. The play areas were very heavy on rope-type play equipment, which isn't great for very young children (probably best for 3+, maybe a bit older) but there is a nice sandpit that toddlers can enjoy. Most of the animal exhibits were available to the public (only 1 enclosure was labelled as under refurb) which is fantastic. The park is clean, well kept, well maintained. I know larger zoos have higher operating costs and are trying to recover from covid but I've found smaller sites to be better and actually get to see more so we'll done to this site for hitting the right balance.Ī nice morning out, seeing some animals and getting some playtime in. Larger zoos annoy me when it costs over £100 just to get in and then the food is over priced and then you have to try an negotiate the kids through the exit without getting stung again by the gift shop. I don't mind paying for food and the gift shop if the admission fee is reasonable. Overall price for admission and food was very reasonable. We stopped and had lunch and the food was very good even had Costa coffee machines which was great. Some animals can be a bit elusive but that's the same in any park. The site is well laid out and the animals have large enclosures with both indoor and out door sides. The harvest mice were very active around lunch time. We did a couple of laps so we could see things at different times. We luckily found this site and in so glad we did. We arrived mid Feb when our schools were on half term but quickly found out that the local schools didn't break up until a week later, this did mean some attractions were not open so we had to hunt around to find places to go. Found this site whilst on holiday in the local area.
